1.00. OVERVIEW

Transcon Oil and Gas Ltd. is an integrated energy company, operating in the Downstream sector of the oil and gas industry in Nigeria and hopefully beyond in the near future.

It is an energy Trading, Marketing and Retailing company, involved in the bulk supply, distribution, storage, marketing, and retailing of and also trading in petroleum products: petrol, diesel, kerosene, low pour fuel oil, LPG and lubricants. The company commissioned its first company-built filling station in July 2002.

It is also involved in Renewable Energy.

The company is a member of Transcon Group and subscribes to the group’s aspirations and values.

The Corporate Head office is located in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria with anticipated presence all over the continent of Africa.

2.00. OUR BUSINESS ACTIVITIES

The company has seven divisions. 

2.1. ENERGY MARKETING DIVISION  

2.1.1. OIL MARKETING DEPARTMENT

This department is involved the Wholesale and Retail sales of Crude oil, Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), Kerosene (DPK, Jet A1), LPFO, HPFO etc. through four units:

                        –     Trading

                        –     Wholesale   

                        –     Retail.

Trading Unit:

The unit imports products (petroleum products) from refineries abroad directly or through brokers/dealers; such products are sold in bulk to other marketers on ship to ship transfer offshore or delivered to storage tank for Clients or for re-sale ex-depot. This company is set to trade in Crude oil, Low Pour Fuel Oil (LPFO), High Pour Fuel Oil (HPFO), other refined products and bitumen throughout the continent of Africa. Transcon has several business relationships with oil traders and refineries in Europe, Asia and North America.

Wholesale Unit

This unit is involved in the sales of products ex-tank at depots from 33,000 litres to 1,000,000 litres by our Marketers and Depot representatives to individuals and companies for resale.

It is also involved in the supply/sales of AGO to industries, fuel stations and homes using trucks.

Retail Unit:

Transcon is licensed by the Department of Petroleum Resources to store and sell petroleum Products such as PMS, DPK and AGO from filling stations in several parts of the country leased or owned and has plans for development of more petrol filling stations across the country. CNG points will be added in due course.

2.1.2. GAS MARKETING DEPARTMENT

This department has three units and is involved in the sale of LPG/LNG through three departments: Trading, Marketing and Retail  

Trading Unit:

This company is set to trade in LNG and LPG on wholesale basis both locally and internationally.

Wholesale Unit

It is also involved in the supply/sales of LPG to industries, hotels, homes and LPG bottling plants using trucks. In the case of housing estates, supply is through pipelines.

Retail Unit:

This unit has and operates a Gas Plant in Sapele, Delta State, the vision of the company is to operate a gas plant in each of the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.

2.1.3. SOLAR ENERGY MARKETING DEPARTMENT

This department instals and  maintains solar power system for generation of electricity in homes, establishments, estates etc. It also markets solar batteries, inverters, and other solar system accessories.

2.1.4. BIOMASS ENERGY MARKETING DEPARTMENT

This department will sell the electricity generated from biomass to the Electricity Distribution companies for usage by consumers. Other streams of revenue include the revenue from accepting the domestic waste, sale of excess gas and sale of the bye-product; fertilizer.

2.2. TERMINALING DIVISION

This company is involved in the storage of petroleum products (Diesel, Petrol, Kerosene, LPG, Fuel oils, etc); a large expanse of land has been acquired for the development of a tank farm in Delta State.  

Petroleum products received into the tanks are sold through tanker trucks.  Should fuel oil be received, it will be for export.

2.3. OFFSHORE DIESEL SUPPLY DIVISION                                                   

In partnership with another energy company, Transcon Oil and Gas Ltd is involved in the storage and distribution of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and Marine lubricants through an SPV (TRANSCON ENERGY MARKETING AND SUPPLY LTD).  It has a tank farm on lease in Lagos with a present capacity of 6000 metric tonnes for AGO only and a warehouse for marine lubricants in 200 litre-drums

Petroleum products received into the tanks are supplied to ships as bunkers and to offshore platforms of oil/gas exploration and production companies to power their engines and equipment.

It has four divisions

The company buys product from international oil traders and refineries (both local and international) and discharges same into its tanks in Lagos. The product is then backloaded for supply to customers.

2.3.1. BUNKER SUPPLY DEPARMENT:

The Company will take advantage of the recent review of the bunkering supply laws in Nigeria to go into the bunkering business. It shall supply bunkers to Commercial vessels, Service vessels, Fishing trawlers, Dredgers, etc.

2.3.2. OFFSHORE AGO SUPPLY DEPARTMENT:

The department supplies AGO and Marine lubricants to offshore Oil/Gas Exploration and Producti0on platforms using dedicated small vessels which are equipped to operate optimally even in turbulent waters.

2.3.3. MARINE LUBRICANTS SUPPLY DEPARTMENT:

A lot of vessels and E and P platforms which require AGO also need marine lubricants, so one vessel can easily deliver the two products at the same time.

2.3.4. THROUGHPUT SALE DEPARMENT.

Any dead space in the tanks will be leased out on monthly basis for storage of AGO only. Maximum space for throughput is 2000mt.

2.4. LUBE OILS DIVISION:Transcon plans to market lubricants and greases of well-known manufacturers. The company has secured a piece of land in Koko, Delta State for a lube blending plant.

2.5. OPERATIONS DIVISION:

This division manages the tank farm and secures/manages the vessels to move the company’s products to various destinations such as Vessels and platforms. This division secures vessels, trucks and pipelines etc to move the company’s products (Crude oil, AGO, PMS, DPK etc) to various destinations such as tank-farms, refineries and industries.

2.6. TECHNICAL DIVISION: This department is involved in the installation, commissioning, maintenance and servicing of equipment and machinery.

2.7. CORPORATE SERVICES DIVISION: This division includes Finance and Accounts; Human Resource/Administration; Legal; Planning/Strategy; Health, Safety and Environment; Business development and Procurement departments. All purchases of petroleum products and spares are made through the procurement unit.
